This week, I found three new researchers to follow by taking a look at the list of followers/followings of the relevant accounts I am following. I gave catherine oliver a follow as not only is she dedicated to chicken advocacy, but she also does research. A tweet she put out that caught my attention was, “Polite request from a chicken researcher: please can you stop using "chicken and egg" idioms in your journal article titles because it's really complicating my literature searches!” I had the same thought as I was looking for research articles relating to chickens. I would get super excited to see so many rows of articles appear on the search engine to get deflated to see that it is not about chickens at all! Another researcher I followed is Ana Rentsch, she is all about poultry welfare, and the third follow was for Julia Best who is not as chicken-centered, but is a zoologist.
Out of the three tweets I made this week, I think this one is my finest. It is simple but that is what makes it the best I would say. Out of all three, I was able to best explain this one in a short and fun manner.
The three hashtags I looked up are #chicken, #CHICKENASSOCIATION, and #poultry. I have to say, I did not expect anything useful to come out of #chicken, but surprisingly, I saw the grossest clip ever. A terrible clip of a small defeathered bird moving, squirming, in between an opened burger bun. Moving on to something I had hopes for, #CHICKENASSOCIATION was a total let down. It had nothing under it, not even the tweet that I saw using it… Which is confusing. The third hashtag, #poultry gave a mix of content relating to farming, ads, and useful information.
The blog I took a peek at this week is Tatiana Bryant’s UC Grand Slam. There were many points Tatianna made I found agreeable, but we did not vote for the same contestant. Overall, it was a short and fun read.
