Twitter #2

Entry #2 Hello everyone! For this week's Twitter tweeting, like usual, I tweeted a mix of informative content and cute aves and canines. Most are what I thought would help out in our research, but some were just cute and a nice break from all the bleak situations animals are going through. I sure hope an article about the Shoebill bird will be able to help someone out lol. A tweet I found to be surprising was: Flamingo’s pink tweet. The source of the iconic pink color of flamingos -I had always thought they were just born pink, but lo and behold, it comes from their food! Due to their diet of shrimp and algae that contain carotenoid pigments, their body turns pink. More information could be found on my Twitter hehehehe. Moving on, if anyone is doing their research on aves, I would highly recommend following “Wilson Ornith Soc”. It is an Ornithological account for professionals and amateurs like us. Just by scrolling through, I see many humorous yet educational tweets. On the other hand, if you need an account focused on dogs and wolves, I would highly recommend “Domestication Lab Vienna.” This account, as the name suggests, is a research lab dedicated to understanding how domestication affects canines’ social behavior and other cognitive functions. While going through our class’ hashtag, I mostly found myself retweeting or commenting on more lighthearted tweets. My personal favorite tweet of mine has to be the “just like humans frfr’ husky vs the entire pound tweet.” I feel like not only is it funny yet sad, but it also shows a side we don’t see much in dogs. We don’t see them be viciously calculative like this ever. It could be the husky learning from humans perhaps, but dogs have never felt more human than in this display.

Hey Pjiyacha,

I liked the inclusion of the reason of flamingo's pink beak. It was totally unexpected to me, even though I have seen many videos of them soaking themselves in pinkish food and drink. For the husky part in the end, I feel I get the general meaning but it can be clearer by contextualizing rather than expecting the reader to go to Twitter. Unlike the flamingos' part, where you mentioned that more information can be found in your account, this one would be better off with more background information.
